The winner of the Targa Florio Lancia Augusta will participate the Mille Miglia

On occasion of the Mille Miglia 2021 edition, Corrado Lopresto will participate with a car of the collection, that will be shown to public for the first time for the race. This is the Lancia Augusta that in 1936 won the 27th edition of the Targa Florio, recently brought liveries of the time.

In 1936 the Targa Florio was cancelled due to penalties imposed by the League of Nation to Italy and the RACI of Palermo decided to organize an special edition on the 20th of december to not jeopardize the record of the most ancient race in the world and with the greatest number of edition held.

At the race only cars from the category "Turismo" and class 1500 were allowed and at the start only 11 competitors were there, at the wheel of the Lancia Augusta, Fiat 1500, Bianchi S9 and Fiat 514.

The winner of the race was Costantino Magistri, pilot that can boast the third place at the 1934 edition and a fourth place in 1935 with an Alfa Romeo. Magistri finished the two laps at an average of 67 km per hour, remarkable if compared to the 80 of the past winners that raced with a gran prix car.

Magistri's car, a Lancia Augusta Berlina Lusso a standard car, still exists and recently join the Lopresto Collection.

To accompany Corrado Lopresto at the Mille Miglia will be Marco Mattioli, general manager of MaFra, a well-known company, producer of product for the care and the cleaning of cars, that has decided to support Lopresto in this legendary race.
